Paralyzed Police Officer Gets Customized 'Cop Car' Wheelchair

Though Bill Weigt became paralyzed from the waist down after he was shot in the line of duty in 2005, he didn't lose his hope.

"Bullet proof vest was on and everything was the way it was supposed to be, it was that one in a million shot, that lucky shot I guess that took my legs," Weigt told azfamily.com. "But obviously it didn't take my life."

Weigt’s optimistic spirit grabbed the attention of the Liz Soden Foundation, a nonprofit that provides state-of-the-art wheelchairs for injured police officers, firefighters, soldiers and children.
