A Drop in U.S. CO2 Emissions

1 Day Ago08/21/2012Yea, fossil energy sure has stuck around longer than many predicted (hoped?) Sadly fission power is a mess (perhaps inevitably so.) Fusion power turns out to be way harder than predicted.  And solar/wind energy can't get out of the fad rut to even start matching increase in demand let alone existing demand.  My guess based on renewable hydrocarbon production research and patents that big energy is getting ready for a switch over to biodiesel and gas replacements (like isobutanol) to leverage their current infrastructure.  It remains to be seen if enough waste streams and purpose grown crops (probably like a GMO switch grass) will be able to provide enough energy for the reasonable future.
