1 Day Ago08/10/2012I heard from my uncle who work in the industry that the reactor in questions was scheduled for decommission approx. six weeks after the disaster. It was at the end of it's life and they knew it and were planning for it. Unfortunately nature had different ideas. My uncle will tell you, the biggest problem is not Nuclear power in itself, but that we keep extending the lifetime of old reactors instead of building new safer models and to save a few bucks in the short term.
